I like you because you're weird like me.

Geek Life- It's kinda like normal life but there are dragons... and griffins!

Have you ever been called a nerd? A geek? A bookworm? Great! That means you're in good company! Over the past few years with such things as Marvel Studios and The Big Bang Theory being such a huge part of our culture's entertainment, being a nerd/geek has become more acceptable and almost down right 'cool.' But I remember being in high school less than a decade ago and being labeled a nerd for being really into Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and finding joy in reading. (And when I say nerd, I mean that in the derogatory way.) I was made fun of for being able to quote entire scenes from the Two Towers and for my [excellent] Gollum impression. But as I grew up home-schooled I thought everyone else were the weird ones for NOT liking such things! -And I was right.

There are tons of people out there who share the same interests as you do - and not just on the internet, though granted that's the easiest place to start for us introverts. I've taken to proudly wearing my anime shirts to social events and I've met some great people and made some good friends because a conversation was started based on our shared love of Avatar: the Last Airbender or Howl's Moving Castle.

All I'm trying to say is, embrace your nerdiness and make some cool friends along the way. Don't be scared to express your interests and find joy in things others may find weird. Because in the end, we're all a bunch of weirdos, but that's what makes everyone so unique.
